May 30/16

Wow, another wet and cold weekend for our guests. Everyone got to see lots of fresh snow in the hills nearly every morning. Despite the poor weather, guests able to brave the elements got into fish! Bug hatches were sporatic, so chironiomid fishing was just so-so. Some guests did get set up on some hatches with trout dialed into them, and they did well.Smaller patterns in 14’s being best. Mayfly nymphs, also proved to be a good choice this past week.

Trolling or wind drifting proved to be the better option for consistent hook ups. Hardware was working as usual, but more success was had fishing attractor flies. The old reliable PumpkinHead was the best producer by far, but K-Marts, and Blue Maroons also got into fish.

Surface water temps are in the mid 50’s still, and water clarity is excellent, with just a bit of algea on the surface.
Weather has taken a real turn for the better, it’s warmed right up, stopped raining, the sun is out and winds are non existant. We will see the bug hatches pick back up as the weather forecast looks fantastic for the next while, very summer like.
