Old Man Winter has loosened it’s grip yesterday with above freezing temperatures during the day and just above freezing overnight. Daytime temperatures forecast in the low teens starting next Friday but over night it drops to below freezing. Were staring to see the grass and dirt as the snow evaporates with the above freezing temps and wind. By next weekend the few inches of snow we have will be melting with the warmer weather. Fishing has been slow from last weekend and slow yesterday. Just a few folks out on the lake. Ice thickness got an inch or more thicker the past 2 weeks as over night temps got as low as -29, we have just over 14 inches of ice measured yesterday, thinnest ice in the past 16 years was 17 inches, so it’s 3 inches less than that. Ice off should be earlier than normal with the thinner ice. Tunkwa typically ices off the 3rd week of April.
