Summer weather has finally settled into the Tunkwa area. Warm sunny days, but nights cool right down to single digits, great for sleeping.
Fishing has still been a bit sporadic. Fish are being caught, but mostly in short flurries. Chironomid hatches have been off, but damsels, dragons, Mayflies and smaller caddis have been hatching. Trout can be seen swirling and feeding on them. Lots of trout moving in the evening, the lake is just ‘alive’ with trout up top.
The CopperTop has been the most consistent chironomid pattern, but the Blue Dream(Dun) has been another good option for guests.
Trolling PumpkinHeads and Blue Maroons has been working for trollers, as have the usual Kwikfish or HotShots. Trolling bite has been a bit hit or miss.
Worms fished under a slip float set at about 6′ feet down, in 10′ or less near the weed beds, have been deadly!
We had guests land fish to almost 6 lbs this past week!
Jan landed this nice 3.2lber this week, trolling a gang troll, tipped with a worm.
Guest Mark Hume landed this beauty Rainbow trout, fishing from the shore, during his stay last week..
