July 3/18

Lots of unsettled weather in the area, including snow in the hills Monday morning! Snow, on July 2, wow…..

Fishing has been good to very good, when conditions calm down so you can fish. Tunkwa has been having some great caddis hatches in the evenings, anglers dialed into the fish feeding on them are having some incredible action. Dangling a green toned chironomid 5 to 7′ down off the weed edges, where the sedges are coming off, has provided non stop action. We keep hearing from guests, how healthy, and bigger the average sized trout are this year, which is great to hear. There has been some chironomid action as well, just find the hatching bugs. Chrome or ASB patterns have been consistent producers, and have the Zuchinni’s, Wine Sally’s and the old reliable Coppertops.
Trolling, or wind drifiting with Kwikfish plugs, have been accounting for some nice catches, bright days bright colours, and dark days dark colours, rule applies. Flies fished the same way have been a good bet as well. K Marts, Blue Marroons, and PumkinHeads have all been good choices.
Worms fished under a float, has been working as well. the weather and conditions have made it a real challenge the past week, but when they let up, fishing has been good.

Today we are already seeing the weather improve, wit sunshine and lighter winds, the weather is really supposed to improve and get more summer like his week as well!

Mark B. and his son were into some fine trout over the Canada DayHoliday Weekend.

Julian with a nice bright Tunkwa rainbow trout..
