Fishing has gotten better as there have been a few chironomid hatches in various areas of the lake. Fish come through and stick around feeding on the hatch and fishing has been good at those times, hatches stop or thin out and the fish move on for better food availability. Last weekend we had good fishing with nice sizes of fish caught during a longer hatch which lasted a couple days, the chironomids were large and reports that bomber size ( 1″) were seen. Hatches have been at different times from mornings to sunset. Damsels have still been flying around and in great numbers! Troller’s have caught fish on Carey’s, pumkinheads damsels nymphs, green frog Kwik Fish. Casting Mepps spinners toward shore around points have picked up fish. Throat samples are mixed chironomid sizes from small to large without the scuds now so they are finding enough food to keep them out of the weeds.
