Last night at Tunkwa we dropped down to -16°C, great for making ice.
This morning Chance and I did another test hole (the same area as yesterday). Solid clear Ice was just a bit more then 3″, the 1.5″ layer of yesterdays water, on top the ice was starting to turn to thick slush and starting to freeze, plus the old slush on top of this(less than an inch) had froze up. Looks like the old slush layer is going to harden up fast, giving us safe ice quickly. We’ll do another drill and measure tomorrow, and post our observations on here.
I’m pretty confident we will be out there fishing before the weekend!
