This week's ice fishing report! ^_^

It was another busy weekend up here at Tunkwa! A bit more snow came down, but we're still seeing milder temperatures. Fishing reports we got from guests were all over the place, a few were doing very well, others just had an odd fish here and there, and some were reporting no luck at all, but still had a great time getting outdoors.

It sounds like it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Heard reports of steady hot action when the ... See more

We missed most of the snow/storms around Tunkwa, only receiving a couple inches in total over the weekend, but the passing storms seemed to have the trout really off. Ice fishing Tunkwa/Leighton has been pretty steady for most of our guests, if you find them, they are there in good sized schools, and tend to be feeding. Action can be fast when a school passes through. If you don't find the fish you have to keep moving until you do. Reports of fish being caught as shallow as 3', and out to the 12' depths. Most fish are in the 16" size range, but we did see a 4lber brought up through a hole. All the usual presentations are working, but the good old “Tunkwa ... See more

Ice fishing has been good for many guests this weekend. The approaching storm didn’t shut them down.

One of the most popular group of lakes in the Thompson-Nicola Region are Tunkwa, Leighton, Morgan and Six Mile Lakes found in and around Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park. Stillwater fishing guru Brian Chan explains the enhancement work that has been done on these four waterbodies in the past 17 years and how it has made these recreational trout fisheries more productive for anglers. :)
